MDU? What’s that, you ask? That’s our fancy name for the team that helps light up apartment complexes, duplexes, and the like with fiber.
When a new tenant signs up for ALLO services, our Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) team jumps into gear. They give the property owners a ring to schedule a site survey. Our team looks over the building during this process and determines what materials we need for construction. When that’s complete, they collaborate with our MDU Fiber Design, Business Sales, Structured Cabling, and Drop teams behind the scenes to bring our reliable services to you.
Their goal is to see construction projects through from beginning to end and help owners and property managers with any questions.
Emily, Program Manager
Emily is responsible for coordinating fiber construction in apartment complexes across our fiberhoods. This Hebron, Nebraska, native’s high attention to detail and strong organization skills ensures these construction projects kick off without a hitch.
“There are lots of moving pieces throughout these builds, so extensive planning, communication, and setting accurate expectations with both internal and external teams go into these jobs.”
No two projects are the same and she loves the challenge.
“It’s always exciting to be part of these builds. The dedication of our ALLO teams to complete these tasks to push a build throughout the steps and how excited residents are to finally get service makes my overall job so rewarding.”
She unwinds at home with her husband and two sons, Keaton and Crew. “They keep me on my toes after work hours. We play a lot of games; they are in soccer and do several activities at their school. They have very different personalities, so it’s always eventful at our house.”
Her interests include traveling, shopping for the best deals, and movie trivia.
Michael, Project Coordinator
Michael started his journey with ALLO as a Customer Service Representative, helping folks like you with billing questions and account inquiries. He began his role as the MDU Project Coordinator in the spring of 2021. Like Emily, Michael doesn’t have a typical day. He assists multiple teams at ALLO with scheduling, tracking, and confirming project progress with owners, property managers, and landlords. That involves reviewing reports to ensure projects are on schedule and prepping documentation for weekly coordination meetings.
When we asked him what his favorite part of the job is, he said it’s the people.
“The people I work with at ALLO make coming in every day enjoyable,” he said. “Those day-to-day interactions, no matter how big or small can have huge impacts.”
He has an associate degree in game design and one in automotive. He’s also actively creating concept art and design plans for a cross-platform video game. Michael and his wife, Liz, have been together for almost 10 years. They enjoy staying at home and caring for their four dogs and three cats. When they can, they love hopping into their car and taking long drives to wherever the road takes them.
Dirk, Full-Service Account Representative
Dirk started his career in telecom back in the mid-80s knocking on doors and pitching products for the ‘other guys.’ He jumped at the opportunity to join team ALLO in 2015 when he heard about our expansion to Lincoln. His expertise and telecom sales knowledge were instrumental in starting our door-to-door sales program.
As the MDU Account Manager, he uses that knowledge to help apartment managers with their ALLO needs. That also includes introducing apartment residents to the benefits of fiber. When it’s warm and sunny, you’ll catch him flipping burgers and hot dogs at local events and sharing his knowledge about our exceptional products and services.
“This job is a perfect fit for me. I have been successful in my position because I have a strong sales and management background.” His communication skills are top-notch too.
Outside of work, scuba diving is his second calling. He’s a certified divemaster who has had his fair share of adventures. Some of those include serving four years with the Omaha Fire Department’s dive team and exploring the reefs in Belize, Fiji, Honduras, and Cozumel. He’s also a fan of concerts. His most memorable ones are Eric Clapton, Foo Fighters, and Earth Wind and Fire.
Megan, Full-Service Account Representative
Megan is another one of the smiling faces on this team. She’s passionate about building relationships with our fiber fans, and it’s her favorite part about her role.
“I enjoy the success stories I get to hear from customers and MDU owners/property managers because they appreciate our services and how it makes their lives easier. It validates the hard work ALLO employees put in every day.”
She’s the go-to person for anything a property manager or owner might need after the fiber we install fiber. She wears many hats, from helping to develop marketing materials, direct sales in person and over the phone, customer support, and troubleshooting.
Family time comes first after work. She is devoted to creating special memories with her son Grayson, daughter Brooklyn, and her husband. Recently, she traveled to Nashville for a 5-day concert with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law to celebrate her 8th wedding anniversary.
